groups.im supports that users from different IM platforms can gather and chat together. Everyone can use their familiar IM softwares to use the groups.

But please pay attention, you can only add the account of the IM platform with which you signed in groups.im, and do not add any other accounts. That is to say, if you sign in groups.im with Windows Live Messenger (MSN) account, then when you create or join any groups.im group, you should use the same Windows Live Messenger (MSN) account. Please do not add accounts of other IM platforms, such as Yahoo Messenger (YM) or Google Talk (GTalk).
